Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024In the year 1970 Stevie Wonder left MoTown and released two albums on his own by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to learn this from Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy signed Stevie Wonder's request to have more freedom, complete creative control and the rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollars MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder was entitled to higher royalty rates as well as more creative control and the rights of his songs. This was an unusual opportunity for artists at that time. The songs of Stevie Wonder could now address controversial topics like war, poverty and drugs. The first album that he released under his new contract with MoTown was Music Of My Mind in 1972. In the latter part of 1972, Stevie Wonder released an album which today is known as a landmark piece in music,Talking Book. The album featured Superstition the most popular hit song.
